PRIME MINISTER Position that, according to the country, from being the one with the greatest political power, to another that is equivalent to Minister of the Interior. In countries with monarchies the prime minister is the president and the one who actually exercises power, as was the case with Queen Elizabeth II and the 16 prime ministers she ordered after her election by parliament (indirect election), as was the case with Sir Winston Churchill (second time), Sir Anthony Eden, Harold MacMillan, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, Edward Heath, Harold Wilson (2 times), James Callahan (who lost a motion of confidence over the sky-high level of unemployment), Margaret Thatcher (the Iron Lady, notable 11 years, first woman nominated) John Blair, Tony Mayor (10 years old), Gordon Brown, David Cameron (who had to resign when he lost the Brexit plebiscite), Theresa May, Boris Johnson (who had to resign due to scandals during the pandemic), Liz Truss (the latter on September 6, 2022, two days before the queen's death). In countries like Germany the president has the ceremonial rank like a king and the prime minister is the authority, as were Helmuth Kohl and Angela Merkel. In Italy the president is figurative and power is exercised by the prime minister, as was Silvio Berlusconi, Mario Draghi, Guiseppe Conte, Count of Cavour (2 times). In general, the president has full control of the executive and runs the government. The prime minister may recommend to the head of state the dissolution of parliament. The president leads the executive by sharing it with the prime minister; in the same way that the cabinet shares responsibilities with the prime minister.
